Getting started

1. Create your account

Sign up with your name, email, and a password. You get a 7-day free trial — no card required to start.

2. Connect HubSpot

From your dashboard, click “Connect HubSpot” and authorize PortalShip on the HubSpot account you want to power your customer portal. PortalShip reads and writes your contacts, deals, tickets, quotes, and pipeline data directly in HubSpot — nothing is copied into a second permanent database.

If someone on your team installs PortalShip from HubSpot’s side first (rather than starting from PortalShip), they’ll land on a “Finish connecting HubSpot” page after authorizing — sign in or create an account there to attach the connection. A HubSpot portal can only ever be connected to one PortalShip account at a time.

3. Set up your customer portal

Before inviting anyone, it’s worth a quick pass through Customization — at minimum, the Journey wizard (so your deal stages show up as plain-English milestones instead of internal pipeline names) and Branding (your logo and color).

4. Invite your first customer

On the Customers page, search your existing HubSpot contacts and invite one. They’ll get an email with a magic link — no password, no account creation on their end, no HubSpot seat required. Signing in takes them straight to their portal, scoped to whatever deals, tickets, and quotes are associated with their contact (and, if they belong to a HubSpot company with other invited contacts, whatever’s associated with that company too).
